Moving from UPC MMDS to Sky +HD

Never thought the day would come but here we go!

I'm an MMDS customer (north county Dublin, so its the old NLT MMDS rather than the Chrous MMDS). I have multi-room Digital + Max and it costs me about €60 a month. I don't have (and cannot get) any HD service, I don't have any Remote Record function, and most important, I have less channels than my brother, who lives in a cabled area. Yet we pay the same price.

I'm also a F1 fan, and have a Technisat HD Freesat box, and until recently could watch F1 in HD on BBC 1 HD. However that's all in the past, and I rang UPC to be told they will not carry Sky F1, but I have it on Setanta (but not HD).

I also rang Sky, and can get Sky+ HD and a second Sky HD box with the Entertainment Plus package and HD added for €63 a month, with a 12 month contract and direct debit.

The offer is tempting, as I already have a dish and octo lnb and the cables are already in. However, the guy on the phone insists that BBC 1 HD and BBC HD are on the Irish EPG, and that even if they were not, I can add in BBC 1 HD and BBC HD in other channels, despite the sticky (here) indicating that its not possible.

    Can anyone confirm this:

Are BBC 1 HD, BBC HD on the Irish EPG?

And if they are not, is it possible to add them in under the services menu?

I assume I can add in Channel 4 HD and ITV 1 HD etc?

Sorry for asking again, but the guy is fairly insistent!

With 2 sky boxes your going to need a land line so thats what 40 pm then the 15 pm so it could cost you overall more than the 63, Still the Sky channels will be much better than the UPC quality wise( and a lot more HD channels too boot)

Will cost you even more if you add Sports/Films or both. And your price will jump once your year is up.Would you not consider Saorview and a FTA set-up, if Sports/Films are not your thing?

The price they gave you is incorrect,Sky do an offer for new Irish customers, they give you HD & Multiroom together for €20 per month on top of your normal sub instead of the usual €30 pm extra.

Your cost per month should be €53,not €63. This offer is for 12 months but you can usually get them to extend it once the 12 months is up.

You'll be paying less per month than what you are now and get HD,SKY+,Multiroom and many more channels with better picture & sound quality.

    Plus the all important F1HD.:D
