    Hi,

I missed an in class exam today worth 20% because on my way to college my car decided to break down and leave me stranded. My friend was in the car with me when it happened who was also going to the same exam. What would you say the chances are of us being allowed to resit another time? I could get a receipt from the garage stating that the car was repaired today.

Well if you get the receipt you'll definitely have a chance, but the only way to find out would be to contact your lecturer

My car broke down on the way to a geography exam and they let me resit it, well they said they would whenever the resits are on.

If it's Geography then you have to submit a MICA form. They are generally sound enough with it. I don't think they'll let you sit it without the form though.

Not fully sure about other subjects. I never had one for Sociology.

Happened to me once but was worried the broken down story wouldn't fly. So I torched the car and it made the rte news. Was able to stick the url in an email to department head and everything. So my advice is to always bring a can of spare petrol for such events :)
