Ive decided to rip up the carpets going up my stairs and landing, they are ancient as underneath there is wooden floors which I want to paint. Can anyone advise me what paint do I need to get that will be durable enough for stairs, ideally id like to go for a light grey-white matt colour because im into the shabby chic look, any advice would be great!

    what i would do is:
    -good sand down
-if timber not painted i would prime it firs
    -undercoat
-couple of coats of flat oil paint
-dont forget to sand between coats
-and i would finish it with couple of coats of floor clear matt varnish for better durablity
that is it u can have a cup of tea now:D:)
