Thanks To Lmk Man have reviewed "Guide on buying Used Cars in Ireland".
Am supposed to go and look at Golf next week.

    Did a quick check on
    https://www.motortax.ie/PSE/start.do?page=welcome and it shows
"Transferred to an Individual on" in January 2012 which means it has changed hands in last 8 weeks:rolleyes:

It's being sold by a garage so am wondering why its not showing up as "Purchased by dealer on" . I asked them for the history and they have said its originally an import. The basic cartell check tallies with the irish reg now but I am still smelling a rat as its selling for 1500 less than similar models.
Before I fork out additional for motorcheck or cartell websites is there any other explanation as to why the motortax site is showing its changed hands since jan but not being registered with a garage?

    Thanks!

Could be clocked and the other customer brought it back and got his money back. I had a similar issue a few weeks ago. Best thing to do is get the english reg and do a Hpi check on www.hpicheck.com.

Personally as soon as any alarm bells start ringing I would be walking away.

As in the car has no service history?

They have told me it has a full service history.

Before doing anything else, you need to examine it to check that it's complete and that it tallies with the car. You also need to call the garages who issued the invoices/stamped the book to verify that the work was in fact done as per the SH.
