Learning to drive with no insurance?..

    I recently got my provisional license or as it's now known, learner permit. I literally havent a single clue about cars and driving and am nervous to start getting lessons with absolutely no experience behind the wheel! My dad has offered to give me a few mini lessons to get to know the basics before an instructor drags me out onto the roads, but the only thing is I'm not yet insured.. Is it illegal for me to practise driving around an empty church carpark with no insurance?? What could happen if I got caught?? Helppp
