not gatorskins, but not race rubber either

Is there any worthwhile middle ground here? Want sort of nice-to-ride training/sportive/not racing tires, but durability and cost a factor (high and low respectively).

Are gatorskin style tires the best bet really?

    Any other recommendations?
Any good online deals at the moment?

+1 on the conti GP, got a set from roseversand 22mm front and 24mm back a couple weeks ago, v happy with them, €44 delivered but I'd say that offer is over

    Panaracer pasela?

    http://www.bikeradar.com/gear/category/components/tyres/road/product/review-panaracer-pasela-tg-10684

There about 25ish on CRC including delivery. I've them on my commuter and there pretty nice tyres to cycle on and I've yet to have a puncture with them. You can get blackwall versions if tan is not your cup of tea.

Spend the extra and get GP4000S's, 8000km on mine (3 punctures) and still going strong, I'll get another 5000+ on them. 28.50 on bike24

I'd like to throw Schwalbe Durano Plus into the mix!
Yours for around 26e from bike-discount.de

I have a pair on my steel bike, and I'm happy with them, other reviews seem good too.

I find GP4000S to be right in the middle of raciness and puncture protection.

That kinda mileage on race rubber sounds mental alright!

CSS have Michelin lithion 2's, a pair for 30 quid, which is pretty cracking, though I'd say they're a bit lightweight.

I have ultrema r1's left over from a previous wednesday special, so I want something cheaper than they were or else I'll just use them. Y'knowhumsayin?
