hi anyone got any ideas on how to protect carpet in a rented property?

im moving a cat in soon and have rugs down in the sitting room but the stairs are worrying me as kitties love to flex their claws on the carpet there...

is it possible to put a runner down on top of carpet with a few nails etc?

    appreciate any help or advice!

1st of all,do you actually have permission from the landlord (in your contract) to have a pet in the rented house???

2nd of all,you shouldnt nail anything into the carpet,as nailing will do damage to the carpet and its fibres and backing.

of course i have permission from the landlord, didnt realise interior design & decorating covered renting issues but thanks for checking that i guess...

anyway what i actually wanted to know was whether or not you can nail carpet down on top of carpet and i suppose i should thank you for so kindly answering that for me, cheers

Yes lolo, I worked in an appartment once with carpet protector down, as far as i recall it was self adhesive and it was on the stairs/landings. If you check online you may get it.

You would be so surprised how many renters think that they can do anything in a house that they are renting, when they actually cant.

If its not in the contract you signed, then you cant do it,and you must seek full approval from the landlord to do it.

If you dont, then you are liable for costs of damage and repair costs too and the deposit being with held to cover the costs.

Anyway,Lidl and Woodies both sell a heavy duty dark grey self adhesieve felt carpet protector that is 1 meter wide x 10 meters long.

Its ideal for a staircase for pet protection or paint protection when painting.

Theres no adhesive on the back of it,instead its a grippy backing that doesnt move or fall off the stair case carpet.

Its 8 euro in Lidl and 15 euro in Woodies.

    Regards.
