Weetabix that is. I've been witnessing and hearing about the various ways people eat their Weetabix lately. Some of them slightly disturbing! Like one guy told me he eats his with cold milk and doesn't let the Weetabix absorb the milk. *shudders*

Personally I have to boil the milk, place two biscuits in a bowl, lash in the milk, let it soak up for a few seconds and give it a good stir. Yum!

So how do y'all eat yours?

Two in a bowl, with a bit of hot milk carefully poured to the SIDE (very important) of the Weetabix. I like the top to stay crunchy, then I add a little sprinkle of sugar. Yum!

A friend of mine used to crumble it into powder and add sugar and eat it dry

I'm not a fan of Weetabix; or porridge for that matter; but with your above process, aren't you just basically making yourself a bowl of ready-brek?

Wouldn't it just be easier to buy that?

weetabix is f**king manky. I think the americans invented it because nobody in their right mind wants to eat wheat.

    Mmmmm love Weetabix!

Two slices, lash in just enough milk to be absorbed, wait for milk to be soaked up then eat away.

    Delicious!

Er no, Ready Brek is oats-based not wheat-based.

haven't had them for years, but as an option to the cold milk & weetabix, i'd top 'em with butter & jam and eat with a cup of tea. Like eating cheap nasty chipboard? yes, but the topping made up for it.

My dads sprinkles sugar on DRY Weetabix and just eats them like that.

My granny kept warning him they'd "dry up his insides".

Three Weetabix, tablespoon of sugar (hello Type 2 Diabetes!), lashings of milk, into the Microwave for 90 seconds.

My uncle used to put black tea on his

    2 weetabix in the bowl
A tiny bit of milk thats only enough to wet the 2 of em
    1 minute in the microwave
    small teaspoon of sugar

(because of the small amount of milk they get really hot, so I leave to cool while drinking a glass of milk.)

Steep bowl for 5 hours in water when finished :pac:

Keeps me going for 6 hours

Don't generally eat it, but if I do, I submerge two completely in milk, leave another sticking halfway out, and microwave for 45 till it's lukewarm. Nice contrasting crunchy/mushy buzz going on.

I remember they tried an advertising campaign a few years ago to make it look all cosmopolitan. Showed people mixing it with smoothies and fruit salad, WTF

In winter: 1 & a half crushed in a bowl, pour just enough milk to cover, heat for 50 seconds then sprinkle with more sugar than is good for me.

In summer: 1 with a little cold milk and a sliced banana on top.

Ha, nothing worse than when you/someone else forgets/can't be arsed to clean the bowl and just lobs it in the dishwasher. The Weetabix seems to become chemically bonded to the bowl, and you can scrub it all day with a wire brush but you'll still have lumps sticking out of the thing for weeks afterwards.

A guy i used to work with, he's also a poster here on boards.ie, used to make his Wheet-a-bix with boiled water, not a drop of cow juice in sight.

I schooled him though, I just hope he hasnt gone back to his old ways now.

But anyhow, 4 in a bowl side by side, cold milk covering up approx 3 quarters (or 75% for all you maths whizzes out there), a sprinkle of brown sugar. Allow approx 3 - 4 minutes (180 - 240 seconds) for soakage. Furiously mix with spoon then consume.

I used to love wheatabix but I started getting pains in my belly after so stopped.

Used to be 2 islands of wheatibix surrounded by milk just covering the top and a dash of sugar.
Eating them dry leads to bix mouth, an incurible ailment that stops you producing saliva.

My mum eats it every morning, I'm 25 years old and she ate it every morning growing up, and still eats it now every morning as far as I know!
Crumbles one up, mixes with a little sugar and cover in far too much hot milk...

Weetabix always reminds me of the chipboard they use in cheap, flat-pack furniture.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,910 ✭✭✭OneArt

I used to eat it with cold milk and only let it get a little bit damp. I hated it when it became soggy because then I just reminded me of the kind of stuff old people no teeth eat *shudder*.

Also I don't eat it anymore because its mank. Ugh.

No way, the soggier the better.

    That goes for every cereal.

2 in a bowl with the exact amount of milk that they absorb. I can eat them in about 30 seconds.

2 or 3 in a bowl. Just enough milk so that it is nearly fully absorbed and there are no crunchy bits left. A sprinkling of sugar. Heated briefly in winter.

Have to confess I like the Tesco ones.

Two in a bowl, crush some Corn flakes or Rice krispies and pour over weetabixs...then a couple of spoons of sugar...pour in milk and then another spoon of sugar (for good measure). Leave to soak for a few minutes then eat...Divine!
