    Hi guys,
I know this may sound odd enough but I thought someone may be able to give some advice....
recently I have been going through quite a rough time, I won't get in to details but things just really haven't been going my way, anyway as the days pass it just seems to be getting worse and worse and recently I can't get it out of my head that I may be cursed or may have some sort of demon which is casting a shadow over me, I truly believe this, I thought it was a curse for a long time but now am really beginnning to feel as though it is a demon, I am just wondering can anybody give me any advice?
I feel like I should see a priest and get a blessing of some sort but I am not too sure of how to go about doing this - can anybody shed some light on this?
Any advice will be gratefully recieved.
Thank you for taking time to read this.

Your curse or demon may be something as simple - and as devastating - as depression. If you haven’t already spoken to your doctor about how you are feeling, you should. No, I am not suggesting that you are mad or delusional - but you may well be depressed. Depression is a serious but very treatable condition, and you shouldn’t avoid treatment.

Even if you don’t feel that you’re depressed, I would encourage you to go to your doctor, if only to have him confirm that you aren’t.

None of this is inconsistent with also having people pray for you, and with you. If it helps you to ask a priest to pray for you, by all means do. It’s a simple matter to ring your parish and ask for an appointment to meet a priest, and explain your worries to him. You will not be the first person who has approached him with concerns like these. He will be glad to pray for you and to offer you a blessing, and he may well be able to refer you to colleagues with more experience of providing spiritual support to people in your situation.

I agree with the above. Millions of people around the world suffer every single day. If they aren't "possessed" you certainly aren't.

You know I'd love to expand this topic but depression is serious and I would risk puting the OPer on the wrong track.
Good advice from Peregrinus, see a doctor, if nothing else it will start you in the right direction.

Ha Ha, I can see how you read that.
I meant that the direction i would take the topic in, would give a wrong impression to the opener. Spoken English is a different language to written English for sure.

Attend a good confession once a month, receive Eucharist every Sunday and pray the rosary. You can also make an appointment with a priest for the sacrament of Holy Unction for those who are sick both spiritually and physically. Attend Adoration maybe once a Saturday if you can.

In the meantime, do this whilst visiting a doctor and telling him your problem.

Did I miss out on something in the OP's post? I don't see where he/she mentioned depression in the post. Why the assumption that's what the OP is referring to?

I see you have been given a lot of advice about depression. As someone who has suffered from this and thankfuly am past it, I can tell you that it can lead to dark thoughts.

However, I have read nothing in your post which suggests that you yourself think you are feeling depressed, so rather than follow that line, I would affirm it is also possible to be harrassed by demons, and it is possible to do something about it.

Not every priest is equipped to deal with this, in terms of understanding or skill, of course every priest can give a blessing.

I would suggest you try priests with particular ministries, such as Fr Cathal Price or Fr Michael Ross.

It is also good advice to make sure you are doing all the usual things to let grace into your life... prayer, confession, Eucharist, Scripture . The rosary is great,or any other way of praying that works for you, there is a rich heritage within the catholic tradition.

Also you can bless yourself and your home with holy water and blessed salt. Holy water is available to take home from every Catholic church, just bring a bottle, and look around for the barrel marked holy water. If you can't find it ask the priest or sacristan.

    God bless you!

Holy water and bless yourself before you leave the house also sprinkle some in the rooms and you will feel better and your luck will improve . Some people will say the results are all in the mind but it worked for me

OP, you've been offered some good advice here by Peregrinus and others. Whatever you decide to do, please talk to a doctor first and foremost, depression is a condition that can be treated - and I speak from personal experience. Don't get me wrong, mental health issues such as depression do have physical, mental, and spiritual components and you may find great comfort or help in prayer, but it must always be in addition to seeking medical assistance and counselling. There are plenty of quack "healers" out there seeking to take advantage of people who are searching for answers to their problems by pinning the cause on supernatural beings, I'd give them a wide berth if I were you.
