    Hi, everybody!
I had depression and anxiety for the last 2 years. I am looking for a job at the moment. I had an interview a short while ago. And out of the blue I got some kind of phobia. It was quite intense while I was talking to a really nice girl about position. Once she ask me to sit down and do typing test ... I can't even discribe, what happened then... I was so scared, I'm not sure I even was able to see what was in front of me, never mind typing it!!! and it didn't even help that girl left a room. I failed an interview(surprise, surprise!!!) but I have another interview in line in a week time. And I'm so scared, it's unbelievable!!! I really want this job as well!!! I basically want any job now (because of situation), but THIS partucular job I'll be happy to get, even if economical situation was grant.
I have some valium I was prescribed to use to situation like that. But i need some extra relaxation technicues, etc. Any advices? Any help is really, really welcome! i'm not looking for medical advice, just some other self help. Thanks a lot!!!

What helps me is to say everything thats worrying me out loud either to myself or to my wife.

It somehow seems like its more manageable then, like it's another part of my brain that processes it when i try to put it into words..

I know it's vauge, but it works for me

Have you looked into breathing techniques for keeping calm? Or perhaps self-hypnosis would help for situations such as the typing?

The only other advice I'd offer is to know your stuff really well, as Squ say it infront of other people or even ask someone to interview you and get used to dealing with the questions and formulating responses on the spot.

    All the very best!

Ickle Magoo, thank you very much for your answer! I'll definetly try for someone to interview me in advance! For some reason I can't do self-hypnosis. And I'm not clear: is there breathing techniques I can use during interview? or breathing in advance might help to calm myself?
    Thanks a lot!!!

You can do both - hyperventilation can go hand-in-hand with rising panic so controlling your breathing can be a way of trying to combat that...but breathing exercises can also be a great way of calming yourself before an event you will find anxious.

Look into deep breathing, meditation and/or an activity which uses breath control such as yoga. You might even find it useful to get into an amateur dramatics group and learn how to "act" confidently or take on the persona of a confident person, even when inside you are very nervous.

    All the best, you.
