We have a Peugot 607 for the last year, ongoing electrical probs with it and now this week it conked out on me and the turbo is apparently buggered for starters, prob gonna cost 5/600 euro to get it on the road again, at which time we will promptly bring it to the garage and trade it in, but what for?

Looking for a medium sized 5 door diesel, the 607 is too big for us anyways, there's just me and husband plus 2 medium/large-ish dogs, it's mainly me driving, longest journey would be about 30 miles a couple times a week, other than that, a few short journeys to town (10 miles), country lanes but not too bad condition. Budget would only be about 2/2.5k.

    Any suggestions?

Why do you want a diesel when you are doing so little milage?

Merc C class is what I would recommend, Slightly more luxury like you are used to in the 607.

Worst Merc out there IMO. Not at all 'luxury'

Stay away from C Classes if its 01/02 model

Really like the look of the Mazda estate, thanks for that I will investigate further.

I'm not fussed whether it's diesel or petrol, husband insists on a diesel (no, I don't know why!)

Re the Merc, think that would be out of our price range anyways!!

    Anymore suggestions?

    Thanks!

Thank you for thinking of the dogs!! But actually they sit on the back seat, so the boot isn't the issue as long as I can get the shopping in it!

We're actually thinking of scrapping now because there is more damage apart from the turbo including the particle emission something doo dah. To get the car back on the road we're looking at 1,200 at the moment plus mechanic thinks there's a 50/50 chance there could be further trouble with the engine once it's running again.

Just to add, the mechanic is a good bloke who has been working on my various cars for the last 8 years, knows my family and knows my uncle would shoot him if he tried to rip me off!!

At this stage we're fairly fed up to say the least!!

This would get my vote - You'd fit a lot of dogs in this one.
