    A driver job? :D

And to be serious you don't really need anything else. Maybe a digital tachograph card if you will be driving vehicles with digital tacho, or some tacho discs, if you are driving older vehicle.
Of course you just passed your test yesterday, so you need to apply for a licence.

You'll need the digi card even if you'll be driving older analogue equipped trucks.

Because all professional drivers are required to have one..

" Digital tachograph driver cards are required by law for bus and truck drivers. "

That's not correct. They forgot to add something like "when driving a vehicle equipped with digital tachograph".

I don't have one, I do drive buses and trust me, I'm 100% within the Law.

I'm also a coach driver and attended an Rsa workshop on the subject and had it confirmed there.. However, I just rang the Rsa and was told 'if you have a digicard you must have it in your possession even whilst driving an analogue equipped truck, but don't need to have the card if you only drive analogue equipped vehicles' .. So I stand corrected.

    :o

Heh it would be bit nonsense to require a driver's card from drivers which never use them.

But unfortunately RSA is great with confusing people. As you said - different info on the workshop and different over the phone and different on their website.

PS. When driving a coach on the motorway, do you use most-right lane for overtaking? Do you think it's permitted by law?

Quoting from memory now but I recall the paragraph from the Road Traffic Act as ' Any vehicle subject to an ordinary speed limit of 50 mph (80kph) being prohibited from the right hand lane' ... As that speed limit no longer applies I use the outside lane freely now.. But I've had many debates about it.

    Heh see.
That's exactly what is there in Road Traffic Act and Regulations, so prohibition of using Right hand lane on motorway, don't apply to buses anymore since April 2009, when ordinary speed limit for buses on motorways was increased to 100km/h...
However RSA keep on insisting, that buses are not allowed to use right hand lanes on motorways. That information was released by them in Rules of the Road in 2010. It was also issued by them last month in leaflet about motorway driving. Also one of boardies emailed them about this matter 2 years ago, and they confirmed that using right hand lane on motorways by buses was illegal.
At least they were consistent with their opinion about it, but unfortunately Law tells something exactly opposite.
I started a thread about it last week on Motors forum (here), and I'm actually going to write a letter to RSA asking for their clarification on this situation.

Even under the old regulations buses could use the right hand lane when the motorway had a speed limit of 80kph or less as on some motorways one has to merge on the rightmost lane. (The M1 East/West at dublin Airport being an example.)

Thanks for linking that thread, that's pretty much the exact argument I've had with many in the industry since the speed limit change in 09. Along with the hard shoulder and passenger seatbelt confusion, I think these must be the top three.
