I have to go from malahide, to howth tomorrow for a school trip. I know I can get there on the train, what route could be taken on the bus?

    Where in Howth? Big place!

    DART is the most straightforward.

Route 102 will get you to Sutton station, where you can either get a DART or walk to Sutton Cross (Superquinn) and get a 31 (best) to Howth. As an alternative, you can get a 31b (not as good) that goes the long way around.

To be able to get both buses use Bus Stop No. 549 on the Dublin Road in Sutton (Opposite Binn Eadair View)

An alternative would be to get the 32a, but that will drop you away from Sutton, in which case use Bus Stop No. 546
Dublin Road, Sutton (Junction Sutton Park) to get a 31 or 31b.

You're going to have to do some walking either way.

If you want to get a bus you get the 102 to Sutton Dart station, and from the station walk to Sutton cross, so just walk down the road in the opposite direction to the train crossing. You'll come to a bunch of shops, and there'll be a bus stop in front of a laundrette and across the road from a Peter Marks. The 31 is the only bus that serves this stop so just get the first bus that comes and get off at the first stop after you pull away from the seafront (the bus turns sharply at a McGuirks shop). This stop is directly across from Centra.

If you get the DART I'd say the walk is the same length, so get whichever is closest to you.

can you not take a 32a from malahide to the coast road and then get a 31 to Howth?

School trip or truancy? should the school not have provided basic information on getting there or at least told ye where to find the information on-line?

Well nobody expected that Spanish Inquisition!

Thoughts of truancy are possibly premature. For all you know cloud493 is the teacher.

While it is a bit late, for future reference DART is the best way by far. Easier to plan and more reliable for not missing connections. The a 10 min walk to the centra (left outside Howth train station, up to the right after 150 yards, keep left passed the Garda station, forced right at Big Blue/Abbey/Cock Tavern and up into the village where centra is.

31B only goes to the summit leaving a 15/20 walk.

Any combo using 102 or 32A could easily leave you waiting ages for a 31 at Sutton Cross or the top of Baldoyle Road respectively.

Yep actually, I forgot about that (I live near the dart so I'm just used to the dart/102 combo).
