    Hi folks,

Looking for some opinions on thoughts I've been having lately. Currently own a 2003 VW Polo 1.9tdi and drive about 350 miles a week, majority on dual carriageway. There's no doubting that the Polo does excellent mpg, usually mid 50's, but I find it a bit boring for a male approaching mid 20's.

The car just ticked over 90k on the clock, with 20k done in the last 9 months. My concern is that if I hold on to the car that it will begin to loose value once the mileage approaches 100k and parts will need to be replaced that won't be the cheapest to do. I currently have an outstanding loan for the car and money is relatively tight.

I'm contemplating to changing to something with a smaller engine maybe a wild card like a 2003 c180k coupe/mazda mx5.

    Any helpful opinions welcomed..

    Keep the Polo

A C-Class coupe of that era will certainly eat all your money and more! Keep what you have, it's not going to go wrong at 100k miles. It won't loose all it's value either, as it realistically doesn't have much value at present.

Get it remapped, should make it more interesting and smoother to drive. Once the initial wow factor is over, should have provide more MPG too.

I really cannot see how a 9 year old Polo diesel will loose a whole lot by hitting 100k miles. 100k miles is low mileage for a 9 year old diesel car.

I never thought I'd recommend that someone keep a diesel VW Polo, but...keep your diesel VW Polo.

+1, also the 1.9 TDI is only warming up at 100,000 miles, there should be at least another 100,000 left in her, and another 200,000 if you service her on time and look after her!

Your only young once so go out and get a fun car while you can, pretty soon you'll have kids and a family so your car will need to be sensible (plus fuel will be even more expensive) so its really a last chance for you to have something fun without worrying about how much its costing.

Now that's what I call good advice (and me an 'oul fella). Besides, the lunacy that is the masses propelling themselves around the place by means of internal combustion engines ... can't last forever either. Enjoy it while you can.
