Stolen Bikes on Cumberland St

Just an FYI, I was passing Cumberland St on Saturday morning and they had their usual market, if you could call it that. I noticed a Specialized Rockhopper and a Hardrock being rode around and a Trek just in the few seconds I was going down the street.

I had seen a guard there some time ago which I guess was in response to the Irish Times letter last year but none last week. I'm just posting it up so that anyone who's had a bike stolen might want to still consider heading down there.

Were these bikes for sale or did you just see people riding around on them?

I dont know if they were for sale as I didnt ask. I recognised the Specialized as I own two of them and in the 3 years I've been going into Cycleways, the profile of customer there did not match those who I saw on Saturday. So just saying, as they say.

So you're just saying that nobody on Cumberland St can afford a €700 bike?

    What's your point?

I'm making an observation that is consistent with what has been reported in the press and on here merely for the benefit of other boards users. You sound like you want to get into a debate over who can and can't afford an expensive bike.

I do want to get into a debate over who can and can't afford a bike. Because you seem to think that if they have a bike they must have stolen it.

I dont seem to think anything. I am merely imparting information. You're trolling.

Have your own debate but before you do that head down there on Saturday and report back what you see. BTW, have you read the previous posts here, the letter to the Irish Times, local TD responses on the matter?

Maybe ask the few fellow Trek, Specialized, Cannondale enthusiasts you'll meet on Saturday and let us know how you get on.

The only information you imparted was that you saw people riding these bikes in a certain area of Dublin. What use is that? The bikes were being ridden around and weren't even on sale.

The place is a haven for stolen bikes and it's well reported that they are on sale. It's not of use to you but to those who know the area it is. Hence I'm getting PM's on it. You're trying to create a debate out of a mere gesture of assistance to those who could be trying to retrieve a stolen bike.

    End of.

So, saying someone riding a Rockhopper in the vicinity of Cumberland St is automatically a bike thief = gesture of assistance. Got it.
