I was told just this morning that i qualify for RA, and ill get 42 euro p/w! is that the usual amount? we are a couple living in a private rented apartment! our landlord brought it down our rent to the maximum 430 we are allowed to qualify (after we made some sacrifices as to what is included in our old rent). i lost my job recently and we had to apply! i dont know much about social welfare as i always worked! but me being too naive, i was expecting a bit more! just wondering is 42 the average?

The maximum you could receive would have been about €64.23 pw as a couple pay €35 pw themselves. The deduction of €22.23 is probably due to one of you working part time or due to other means assessed against you.

I get €19.92 towards my €56.25 rent per week. I'm single and in shared accommodation where the limit per month is €230. Does this seem right?

i suppose that does sound kinda right, brembo! if we're paying nearly twice rent that you are, so we'd be getting about double! but we're not in shared accom! have no idea how they calculate it!!! and i didnt really find much info in citizens information except about how to apply and if you qualify.

I only spotted it recently. Citizens Information online is really top class and written in a much more accessible style than Dep online info - which is a help especially when people are stressed out and trying to process all sorts.
