I've been having a problem with my DHD lately, when the keypad is locked the backlight keeps coming on draining the battery and making it very difficult for me to sleep in the same room as it! Anyone have this problem with it, would the best thing just be a factory reset?

Also my ipod broke recently and I was wondering how good are the music players available from the market? Are there bigger SD cards available than the bog standard that came with the phone?

i'd try changing the screen timeout to something else and then back to your preferred time again to see if that fixes it.

it might be a particular app trying to do something that is causing the screen to come on.

i have a widget (switchpro widgets) set up that allows me to quickly turn on/off particular functions and i use that to disable sync and turn off the data connection when i go to bed so i don't get woken up by updates or email alerts or stuff like that.

Also my phone has started answering in loudspeaker by default.

Edit just going to edit this post, there seem s to be another problem now, a more concerning one. When I connect the phone to my PC via the USB it charges but it won't do anything else eg. function as a disk drive.

Sounds like a.damaged or dirty charger port. I had similar issue and a careful clean sorted it.

mack what version of android does your DHD have?

it came with froyo originally but you should be able to upgrade it to gingerbread right now and soon to icecream sandwich.

froyo was awful on a dhd... gingerbread is a huge improvement. cant wait for ICS

Had the same issue and there's discussions elsewhere on the web, such as here and here. The phone was basically going into "Car" mode and enabling the loudspeaker as a result.

It fixed itself somehow but the general consensus is to clean the USB ports and ensure two pins aren't shorting each other.

    you have gingerbread so.

i recommend you try rooting your phone... there is instructions Here on how to do it

with a decent custom rom your phone battery life will last way longer cos all the crapware that drains it will be gone.
