Parking ticket Sligo

    Hi,
a couple of weeks I got a 40e parking ticket for Holborn St, Sligo. My car was parked just outside my front door, parked properly with the parking permit and tax displayed on the window. Ticket was blank in the section where it usually states the reason of the offence. I wrote a re-appeal to S.County Council and got a letter back that I still am in the wrong. In the office the lady simply told me that she doesn't know the reason but I mustf been parked on the footpath or yellow line or so on and on and on. She had no clue, and she wasn't bothered to find out either.

I'm going to the SCC today again, but I'm afraid their ignorance is just going to set me off again. Can anyone please give me some advice on this situation, can I complain anywhere, what can be done? I don't want to get blank tickets, I simply can't afford them just because SCC need money...

Who gave the ticket? The wardens in Balbriggan carry a digital camera and take pictures of the offence (no/expired ticket, double yellow etc).

There should be a further independent appeal that you can make? I had a similar problem with DLRCOCO - they initially rejected my appeal but then cancelled the ticket on further appeal.

I asked if they have a picture to prove incorrect parking, they said there isn't one. It is Sligo Borough Council that issued the fine, they wouldn't tell me who is the warden or let me talk to him.

If they cant provide you with the reason as to why the ticket was issued then I would suggest that the ticket is invalid. Continue to make as many appeals as you can, and continue to ask for the reason why this ticket has been issued.

Was your second appeal done the same way as the first one? Just the usual application form you get in their office or did you get someone/agency to write it for you?

Imagine if this goes to court.
Prosecution: "We intend to prove that the defendant committed an offence".
Judge: "What offence exactly would that be?"
    Prosecution: "eeeh..."
    Struck out.

I submitted both by email. If they can't prove that you committed the offence then I can't see how they can enforce the ticket.

Don't know who has taken over as Town Clerk of the Borough Council since John McNabola retired but should be easy to find out and send appeal directly to him/her.
