8 Year old counting on fingers

Whats your opinion on this? She seems to struggle with maths and cant figure out counting without using fingers - is there a better way i can help her. Thanks

I am a learning support teacher and actively encourage even 6th class to use fingers for all maths except tables. We take children away from using concrete materials way too early.
