    From their website:

Iverk Produce Carrick Wheelers will again be promoting their annual St. Patrick’s Day race, The Carrick Wheelers Cup. The race will be held on its usual circuit of Carrick – Glenbower – Kilheffernan – Kilsheelan – Carrick, starting and finishing on the top of St. John’s Hill on the outskirts of the town. Sign on for the event will take place in the Carrick United Clubhouse, Coolnamuck Road, Carrickbeg, Carrick-on-Suir from 9am with racing starting at 11.30am.

Carrick Wheelers will be promoting three races; with the Category 1s and 2s in the main event and Cat. 3s and Cat. 4s with a separate race each.

The main event and the Cat. 3 Race will be 100km (3 laps) with the Cat. 4 Race 70km approx (2 laps). All promotions are again kindly sponsored by Thompson’s Funeral Home Waterford.

Prizes will be for the first 8 riders across the line in each event, with €1000 prize fund and the prize presentation will be held at the same location as the sign-on: Carrick United Clubhouse, Coolnamuck, Carrickbeg, Carrick-on-Suir.

here is the route from memory
    http://www.mapmyride.com/routes/fullscreen/74980738/
the surface is quite good but currently there are major roadworks in kilsheelan village and i am not sure if they will be finished in time so caution may be needed there. it does not show so well but there is a good drag for the final 2km from carrick to the top of the hill at the finish.
best of luck to all racing

cunavalos is correct about the surface in Kilsheelan.
The road is being completely dug out and resurfaced.
Bad news is that the work won't be finished by Saturday,
Good news is that the surface will be quite good but there probably will be a ramp of 2 or 3 inches into the roadworks and then back up out of it again.
Should be safe enough if you excercise a bit of caution.
    Best of luck to everyone.

Is that the drag that was in the Suir Valley (Stage 1) this year?

... I find something a little disconcerting that a Cycle race is sponsored by Funeral Directors ...

^^ I saw you there today Ryan but didn't get a chance to say 'hello'.

I did the A4 race today (<<missing 1st few km's), nice circuit, road surface & width made for some safe racing.
This is officially my 1st group finish, so delighted with that. More lessons learned, ie. preserving energy in the bunch, creeping up towards the front on important bends/turns, not panicking when I lost touch with the group at the end of the 1st lap and pacing myself back in.

I made a burst for the 2nd last corner in Carrick on the outside of a traffic island and I was 3rd at that point, then a car looked it might bring a few of us down at the T-junction, and then we made the last turn............but I quickly found out I didn't have the power/legs to 'sprint' up 'that' hill !

    Oh............and we escaped the rain aswell...............phew :D
