there is a computer at the FAS training centre that is having trouble with log in. Every day it has the same valid password entered to it but rejects the password, the computer is turned off several times and the same thing is retried and rejected but so far after several attempts it has eventually logged the user in. this is really frustrating .
Is there any simple way around it?

I don't think the computer is likely to be replaced too easily.

um a little bit more information would be helpful.

Is the computer on a network? Is someone else using the same user name on a different computer?

I do not think there is a simple way around it, would it not just be better to fix it once we know what the problem is?

computer is on a network, same password shoukldn't be being used in different places. relevant to the computer which is a permanent seat on a 16 week course.
same computer is being used separately in day and night courses though.
problem seems to have started at beginning of week but become progressively worse since. Does seem to be allowing eventual access at the moment though. Took 4 turnings off and on this morning though

is the network cable or socket damaged? that will cause log in failures if the computer is not actually on the network and you are logging on to a domain controlled environment.

Is that something that can be checked easily by the user? Or is it a problem with the network that you'd need administrative status to check?

Sorry don't know enough to know if you mean a cable connecting the individual computer to the network or the network set up itself.

Computer is in a course classroom so should physically be part of network. It appears to be on ok, though its coming up with the wrong day on the sign up window i.e. the way the centre has computers set up the member login that comes up as default is ****tue09 or whatever. different number for each computer in network of 20. Day has been offf since the start of the course first day was a Mon & it was reading tue, followed by it reading mon the next day. Not sure if that's remotely relevant.
The day isn't part of the member login used on the course since the same user should be on 5 days per week. The user has a password made up letters and numbers that they have been reading from the slip of paper it was given them on. It is entered as written on that slip. But it isn't gaining entry without much turning on & off of the computer.
there is probably a different user in the classroom at night with a different password number consisting of letters and numbers. Not sure if they're having the same trouble getting access to the computer.
