Dressing up as a (sadly unsexy) Pokemon...

We're organising a game of Human Chess in the college with the theme "Pokemon versus Zombies" and it seems I'm to be a Pokemon. I've had a brief scan through some of them and can't for the life of me find one which would be easy to devise a costume for.
Sadly, I am not some sexy barely legal cosplaying lass, but a rather hairy fellow in my mid-20s.
So, good people of AH - any suggestions as to which Pokemon might be easy to dress up as and how?

Mods, I realise there's a Pokemon forum, but those people are weird.

    Piks?
If we had a peek at you it would be easier for us to tell.

Yellow overalls and a baseball cap and you could be Psyduck.

We'll need a Pikachu to get a better feel for what would suit.

No pics of me, I'm afraid. I'm imagining I'll look something like this, but with dark hair, a beard, a hairier back, and smaller boobs.

You could just wear a pink sheet with a smiley face on it and go as Ditto?

    Go as Ash,

That way if you see a girl you like its legal to capture her hold her against her will in a small ball (cage will suffice) and enter her in battles.

Or if you are a girl go as Misty, all the guys will be like broc and fall madly in love with you and then you can get them do do whatever you want!

I don't have classes - I'm doing a PhD. The reintroduction of fees wouldn't affect me.
The Human Chess is just a little harmless fun, an event to end the semester on.
You're welcome to come and join us if you so wish.
We'll also be having underwater chess that evening if you're interested.

Go as the human kid, problem solved.

    Play Misty for me......<cough>

Or one of the randomers that you meet in the woods with and exclamation point over your head. And each time someone crosses your line of sight run up to them and start a battle.

Ah memories of Red/Blue on the Gameboy.

I think Ditto would be the easiest, even if you would look like a pokétampon. Or Psyduck.

    The very one!

all you would need would be white or black cardboard covered in either white or black spray (opposite to card before anyone tries to be smart!) to give the static glitch look.

Dead simple really, few cable ties to hold it together front and back with you sandwiched in the middle.

big image of it can be found here

edit: looking at it some bit of brown colour might be good too but not essential!

Diglett has to be one of the easiest ones to dress up as. You could use them as pawns!

You could also use Nidoking and Nidoqueen as the king and queen. You could use Farfetch'd for Bishops (cause they carry leeks as staffs :P); try Graveller for Rooks (or maybe Eggsecutor which would also be an easy costume?), and probably Ponyta or Rapidash for the Knights.

    Sounds like great craic :D

Can't help but notice that all the pokemon mentioned seem to be from the first few games.

Just think in later years when kids are still playing pokemon we can tell them that in our day there was only 151 (and i could name them all and usually make the sounds for them too! Jigglypuff singing from a 22 year old 6ft bearded lad is very odd and quite freaky at 5 in the morning at a houseparty when people are fairly fecked!)

haha no actually! rarely done permanent stuff like that after i did it to mate that was passed out and i covered his entire face that was available to me and then found out he had an interview the next day.

He didn't get the job and also ruined the white cushion he was lying on when he turned his head!

After that i only used what i could get my hands on there and then.

Also always remember if shoes are off they fell asleep and are immune

If the shoes are on they passed out and are fair game!

coming 27 now, still can do the jigglypuff singing though and its even more disturbing now

Oh and OP if you do go with missingno and do that kinda backwards L shape shown it the pic a few posts up be sure you do the back the right way so you don't end up with the side bits on opposite sides!

If you pop your head in on the anime and manga forums I know a few regulars who've actually dressed up as pokemon, and a few more who cosplay regularly and would be able to give you some solid tips.

I think you should go as this guy (cool Pokemon)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,110 ✭✭✭Thirdfox

    Magikarp :)

But an easier one would be Mr. Mime...

Or you could be super un-PC and dress up in "blackface", in women's clothing and go as Jynx (assuming you are a caucasian male)
