Can an underactive thyroid cause vocal nodules?

I've had vocal nodules for years that seem to be immune to treatment :o Shortly after I was diagnosed with them, I was also diagnosed with an underactive thyroid. My thyroxine dose has increased since then from 50mcg a day to 150mcg. It never occurred to me that there could be a link between the 2 until a friend recently went to an ent clinic (who was subsequently diagnosed with nodules) and told me the specialist had asked her if she suffered from any thyroid problems. Just wondering if anyone else knows of a connection between these problems? I'd love to have my old voice back :D

I have one, endo checks it every time I go in. It increases in size sometimes and affects my voice when my thyroid isn't working well or if I'm tired (which is probably thyroid too!)

Cant offer any advice as how to get your old voice back, sorry

Did you ever consider having it removed? I would think that in your case that if the thyroid problem us causing it then vocal therapy wouldn't make a difference?
