As above. Highly unlikely, but hypothetically, if someone were to die, having no living relatives, and haven't done a will. What happens to all their estate? What if they're really rich?

If you have no living relatives left, most sane people give all their money to their pets

If an Irish citizen dies intestate, there is a period of 6 years where all assets are held pending a claim from any relatives. Once this period elapse, assets are passed to the German government.

More concerned about being alive and having no relatives, nevermind friends.

I know my one pal is desperate to start a family which makes sense there's just his mam remaining, who's old. if there even was ever anyone else - there was a dad I figure.. hope I don't fall into such a predicament too late in life; probably wouldn't be able to reproduce by then anyhow nevermind pull.

the assets go to the state? or else the bank gets to keep it D; and many houses go derelict from elderly folk passing on who do not have any living relative they know of, but then those houses are not the property of the state right? did ya ever see those shows where they hunt down relative who are entitled to money from a deceased individual, I think I remember them mentioning about the funds going back into the coffers. This is my most sketchiest post ever.

They get it all in ten pound notes and put it down the shore,
This is how rats afford aprons ,
They need the aprons to get in some houses,
They need the tenners to get in some aprons,

This is a random song Im working on , to answer the op it all gets invested shrewdly in sesame seeds. If one things for sure big macs will always need sesame seeds.

If it's looking like I'll die without anyone worth giving my money to, I'll pay the $300k or whatever to be cryogenically frozen and the rest into a savings account.

Happens alot actually. I know in England theirs agencies that will get the information of the deceased and research their entire family tree to find a relative to claim. They get a cut of the prize too. On tv too called Heir Hunters.

Over here, I would imagine similar.

can you leave a will with a lawyer instructing them to hold a raffle? I'd love the thought of my millions of euro and my mansions and cars being given away in one of those scabby raffles where you get five tickets for 50 cent or something

Second prize would be a teddy and a cheap bottle of wine.

Not sure how they do it here but I've recently learned that my Nigerian second cousin has died recently and has no immediate friends or relatives. Fortunately, his esteemed lawyer seems to be more than helpful in trying to get his assets to me.

Something that is probably as important as a will is appointing people to have power of attorney over your assets when you are alive but not capable of managing things. Most people forget this.
