Brightest planets in the solar system cross paths

Is this even possible that Venus and Jupiter could cross paths? I have looked outside and the sky is cloudy but redish not extremely pitch black. I can't see anything other than what looks like flashing stars in a distance amongst the clouds?!

Nah. they're both on different sides of the sun going in different directions.


jupiter's halfway across the Solar System, while Venus is....in Space Terms, pretty ****ing close. Compared to Jupiter anyway.

I'm seeing a really, really bright red star but it's more directly overhead, rather than in the western sky. And it's also not near any other visible star.
