So Pudsey33 won't be back in the country until this Saturday so I thought I'd adopt the duty and post this here. I'll write up a bit more about these boys tomorrow but I'll leave it to you fine folk for now!

I'll sign off with a cracking tune from Wild Beasts 2nd LP 'Two Dancers' which you should all listen to!

    Usual rules apply.

Another one of those bands when they are good they are very good. But I find myself skipping a lot of the songs on their albums.

I loved their debut album. It was a real surprise. Loved the dynamic of the two vocalists. For me I didn't skip a single song on the debut album each time I listened to it, it was that good.

The two subsequent albums have had their moments and have some of the finest songs Wild Beats have created, but each album has a whole just hasn't matched the brilliance of the debut album. Two Dancers had a few songs that even after listening to repeatadly, just didn't work for me. They've lacked consistency in my opinion.

I've seen them live too, and while they were alright, they just didn't wow me like I was expecting them to do.

Loved the dynamic of the two vocalists.

Agreed, the contrast between Hayden's quasi-operatic crooning and Tom's gravelly baritone rumble is delicious.

One oft-overlooked aspect of the Beasts music is their exceptional drumming & percussion; it may not be the most technical around but it's the backbone of their music. It's so textural and considered.

I like what I hear from the stuff posted here. I have Limbo Panto but I don't think I ever really gave it a chance. I definitely listened to it but seem to remember feeling it was a bit meh. Must dig it out again...

Agree about the percussion. Pretty interesting. Simple but nicely layered with a lot going on, loads of nice rim tapping and other timbres.

'Lions Share' is one of my songs of 2011

    Great band

Probably my favourite of their songs. Devil's crayon and end come too soon very close also. Love hearing end come too soon live!

First heard them performing that song on Later.... a few years back. Loved the singers (Tom?) little spazzy attacks on the high notes lol. Totally agree love how the two vocalists play off each other. Actually had forgotten about this band much check out their newer stuff.

I recorded RTEs Other Voices program and just watched it tonight and Wild Beasts were the first act, and sounded pretty good I have to say. Will definitely explore more of their material.
