Just having a wee think to myself there about tyres for the weekender. I've always put BFG's on it and while they're a great looking tyre, they're frankly sh1t!

I wouldn't mind spending a few bob on really good tyres for the car in order to enhance the handling and make it a little easier to throw around but here's the problem. Only tyres I can find in the size I need (255 / 60 / 15) are 4X4 tyres!

That wouldn't work at all now.......or would it!?!

4x4 road tyres would be ideal surely.

    You reckon?

I actually found these online and they're way cheaper than what I pay for the BFG's.

What's your thinking behind saying 4X4 tyres would be ideal James?

Designed for roaduse so as I see it they're car tyres in the size you need, all thats 4x4 about them is the size and load rating I reckon.

    But they're so cheap!

They're actually the best tyres I could find on eiretyres in that size. Usually costs me around €150 a corner to land the BFG's.:)

They're probably a popular size for 4x4s so reasonable enough. Like when 1995 50 15s were and probably still lots cheaper than 185 55 15s. JUst have a peak at the speed rating and if that's fine than you're happy out me thinks.

The cousin has a 73 Corvette, and he was given the same advice a long time ago for tyres. As in, getting 4x4 tyres. He's never had any issues.

Well pleased with the thought of that, i.e. cheaper yet better tyre!:)

1995's would be a tad wide though! :D

No need for them just yet but when I do I'll miss me white letters! :(

That is the only thing alright. It does look a bit wrong without the Big White Letters.

    What about these?

Camskills are pretty good for shipping (normally) they've a few pallets coming this week regularly enough.

(apologies not quite sure what car it is you're talking about, I guess it's not a 4*4 though :D)

Thanks but they're a bit too 'jeep' looking for my liking. Would be going on to this:

ah yes....i see your point :D

I guess there's not much of a market for tires for classic american muscle here.

Just had a quick browse and found these fella's (more of a market for this kind of thing in holland due to LPG being widely available and friendlier tax / insurance rules on classics (also the roads are a bit better).

Not too sure if it'd be worth the while once shipping is involved.

But you'd have the proper tires AND get to keep the white letters

I can get BFG Radial T/A's, i.e. the tyres that are currently on the car landed to my door for €150 a corner. They're a fine looking tyre but that's about the height of it. I was looking for a performance tyre in this awkward size but thanks for your help anyhow.;)
