Seems like the tax man got a few of the locals today....
Property developers George and Ruth Raymond of Rustica, Upper Kindlestown, Delgany, Co Wicklow, made a settlement of €890,641.60 also arising from the underdeclaration of VAT.

James Brooke Tyrrell, of Church Gate, Church Road, Greystones, Co Wicklow, a former assistant manager at áas, who was last year jailed for four years for defrauding the State training and employment agency, has been ordered to make a settlement of €724,682 with Revenue

didn't realise there was so much dodgy money in our quaint little town :O

When they say "settlement" do they mean that the actual tax owed was greater than this amount?

    Yes

I wouldn't be so sure. The amount could have been a lot less, the revenue like to add lots of interest and charges to late payments or under deceleration.

Sean Doherty - retired publican from Glenealy figured after a settlement of over €337K. Could this be the same man that played football for Dublin in the 70's and was involved in the Woodlands Lounge and later the Tapas Bar on Church Road.
