As the title suggest, I have something growing in my aloe vera thats defo not aloe vera. Im wondering if anyone:
    A. Knows if this is common?
    B. Knows what it is that is growing?

    A. No
    B. Yes

Assuming you are in ireland, no it is not common at all. it is the aleo vera flower. As a plant it is quite rare to see it flowering in ireland (i think) a bit like bamboo's

So what you are saying is I have an aloe vera flower, which produces aloe vera leaves just like the plant, and is now starting to produce the "flower"?

Ok I think I get it now :D I have an aloe vera plant and although it is rare to flower in Ireland, that is exactly what is happening to mine?

i have aloe aristata plants, which flower, but i've never seen any of my aloe vera plants flowering. very similar flowers to the aloe aristata, going by the photos above.
