Reading some recent threads, you guys seem well informed so I hope you can help? A friend of mine has just found herself in a life changing situation. Her husband - self employed - has just had an horrific car accident. She is currently using annual leave for a bedside vigil. The latest news is that he will have numerous operations over the next year at least and a lengthy rehabilitation thereafter. He cannot afford to employ someone to keep his small business going so it will fold. My friend works in an office and her salary will barely cover the mortgage, and will definitely not cover the other utility bills etc. Understandably, she is currently spending all her time at the hospital so does not have time to make appointments for citizens advice etc. What advice can you offer her please? What help can she get - medical card (hospital bills have started to come in already), disability, sickness, etc etc what is she entitled to apply for. Your advice would be much appreciated. Thanks
