Wood pellet boiler + Systemlink

    Hi,

I've got a wood pellet boiler which is controlled from a systemlink/systemlex setup. However, one issue is that if all the zones which are currently on reach the the required temperature, then the boiler turns off.

What I need to happen is that the boiler stays on (it will modulate itself down to 10%). Anyone know if it's possible to get this behaviour with a SystemLink/SystemLex setup?

    Thanks,
    Conor

I don't know anything about wood pellet burners, and maybe this is a silly answer, but could you not turn up the temperature in one of the zones? This might result in a higher than desired temperature, but the heat has to go somewhere. 10 percent of whatever the maximum heat output is, is probably still quite a lot of heat.

I think you could wire up a contactor, so that if all the upstairs zones are turned off, the zone in the lowest-down part of the house is turned on regardless of the temperature sensor.

I think the whole thing might turn out to be very counterintuitive.

Do you have a buffer tank with the pellet boiler?

Full is full, more heat will automatically switch off the boiler.

The boiler should be programable, the spread of temperature (Delta T) increased and the reaction time necessary for the modulation of the combustion shortened.

This way the boiler would have longer firing sequences.

It would be possible to set this up. I assume your issue is that the systemlex is being controlled by wall stats which is interfering with the pellet boiler by constant switching on off. Any competent electrician should be able to set this up for you, you may need to control the boiler on a seperate timeclock and if there is a pause function in the boiler activate this depending on the boiler and plumbing set up. Also if you close all zones and the boiler stays on you need to insure that the circulating pump has somewhere to pump to or switches off when there is no demand. What make of boiler do you have?

My system is like that - sep channel on the timeclock direct to the WP Boiler, stats in all rooms - pump will shut off when stats cut out and boiler modulates down to 10% to tick over.
