Insurance for Houses > 150 years built

It seems that most if not all insurance companies are refusing to quote for private house insurance, if your house is built more than 150 years ago. Even if, as in our case, the house was gutted and rebuilt from the ground up with all new systems !!

Of course our original lender will quote for a rollover of the existing policy, but this is now a monopoly situation, with an accompanying price to pay.

Anyone in this situation? Anyone found an insurer who will quote?

You should be able to get a quote as normal once the house has been rewired etc up to modern regulation standard. you might have to phone them as opposed to getting an online quote. The use the rebuild year as construction date. That's my experience anyway.:)
