Recently (3 weeks ago) got an 05 Opel Meriva for the Mrs to transport the kids around when i'm at work & at weekends etc, all was fine until the weekend, when i drove it i noticed the steering was really 'loose' when turning left but extremely 'stiff' when turning right (if not holding it firmly the steering wheel corrected itself really quickly) we've been driving it fairly lightly & havent hit any pot holes or suchlike, any idea what could cause such an imbalance?
    Any help greatly appreciated.

Could be the steering rack. i had a Citroen c3 up to December of last year and I had similiar problems with the steering. The steering rack in Citroen's are electrical so can cause problems. May be the same issue in Opel's too. Get it checked out pronto before an accident happens...

How about power steering fluid level? Or I'd wonder about something in the rack. Definitely get it checked or it may suddenly get worse.
