I've been struggling with a bad grip (strong) ever since I started. I feel like I've almost corrected it now. It takes a long time to re-adjust but a neutral grip is so necessary in my eyes. Felt so awkward at first. I shifted both hands about 2 inches left.

If you think your grip could do with some work I've found an excellent set of 3 video clips. First is embedded on this site:

Combine this with the chapter on grip by Ben Hogan and you'll be on your way. Hope it helps...

We can't hit pro shots but we can set up like them.

No more snap hooks for me, hopefully stays that way. Anyone else working on their grip?

Have decided this is the year to nail down the setup and grip. For the last couple of years, I don't think my setup was the same form 1 round to another.

The grip was a bit strong, ball to far back in stance, shoulders to level.
So over the last 2 weeks i've gone to the range with improving my setup and not trying to burst the ball.

Result is a smooth swing that goes straighter and a bit longer.

You know your doing something right when you don,t feel the ball at impact and you have a nice balance finish.

Lets just hope i remember this when I get to the course!!!

Read most of that article there, looks like an interesting read. Will look at it more when I have some better free time.

I too have a strong grip, specifically my right hand which leads to duck hooks from closing the face over at impact.

Learning to sit my right hand more on top of my left thumb takes a bit of getting used to for sure.

Hogan example is a very good one for all us strong grip guys, as this is what he changed to overcome his own hook issues.

Actually only read the grip chapter last night after getting the book delivered in the post yesterday.

Grip is such an important component of the swing and shouldn't be overlooked in the slightest and I can say this because i've being guilty of overlooking it myself:o

Herman Williams is head and shoulders ahead of every net golf instructor out there. For one main reason that's his clarity. I could not understand how to release the club, when I first played golf I built my swing around keeping the face of the club at 90 deg to the target line at all times through my back swing and follow through(you can't even imagine how awkward that looked let alone perform) and as a result once shot 159. That's a record right? But I came home that evening and said this is bull I can't be this bad, got on the net and came across Herman.
I find his teaching style refreshing he explained things in a way that total hackers like me can understand. Now that I've improved I still pick stuff up from his tuition, highly recommended from me anyway. I'm a bit sick that I didn't think to post here about him first.

Agree, especially liked the video on club release (part 3 of the grip videos).

Looked at some golf vidoes of myself with a strong right hand and I can see myself holding the club face off to keep it square at impact.

He speaks about hands square at impact and crossing over just after that. My hands were crossing over when the club was way past my impact position, almost parallel with the ground on the follow through.

It will take a while but its another good reason to fix my grip permanently.
