Lights on dash - Dealer Diagnostic Machine only choice?

    Hi,

I have a clio and have had an issue with the ABS light on the dash. I got the ABS sensor changed, I got a new CV drive put on but the light still remains. I brought it to Advance and no problem shows on their diagnostic machine and a friend of mine put in on another machine and still no issue showing up.

Last night as I was driving it home, the handbrake and stop lights came on together.

Am at my wits end. Is the only solution now to pay a visit to a renault garage and put it on their machine? Is this going to cost a fortune?

    Thank you!

It could be a dashboard failure, not sure how common this is on the Clio. Audi TTs and A4's were notorious for showing clitches such as high tempreture stat when the sensor has no error reading. Only resolution on them was a complete dash clock change.

A code read at a dealer can be around 60 Euro (depends on the dealer) drop them a line and ask how much a diagnostic check is.

If it is an actual ABS problem then any decent diagnostic equipment should be able to read it.

I would try to look for a larger independent garage. Toyota I think only charge 40 in my local one for a scan.

Check the level of your brake fluid. I've had a similar light come on in a car a few years back caused by a low fluid level.
