I have been trying to get XPS210 XP working again and so far it has been trial and error.

I get messages saying that No ATI disk divice is installed or not functioning propertly.

I got all the blue disks that came with the computer including windows but and I think I have tried opened and extracted all the disks and drives but I am still getting this message.

On the system hardware divice manager it has 2 yellow question marks under other divices which are video controller and video controllor VGA compatable. I have tried to do updates but nothing seems to work

    Any ideas please

Are you sure your XPS has a add-on ATI Radeon graphics card? If not you'll have to install the driver for the Intel GMA.

Easy way to find out, check the back of your XPS and see where the monitor connects:

The way to fix these sort of issues with Dells is to go to

    Dell Home Support
    http://support.euro.dell.com/support/index.aspx?c=ie&cs=iedhs1&l=en&s=dhs

    Click to download drivers.
Type in the serial number from the back of your computer, should be a 7 digit number/letter mix on a white label in fairly large text.

The website should list the drivers suitable for your computer.

It is probably an ATI x1300.

The way I read it, Maura has tried to install the ATI drivers from the original Dell driver CD. However, this card is optional, the base model comes with an Intel GMA X3000. If there is no ATI card you can install drivers for it until the cows come. ;)

Let's find out which hardware we're dealing with first.

OP, while you're in Device Manager highlight one of the video controller entries, right click --> Properties --> Details tab --> choose "Hardware ID" in the Property dropdown and google the ID.

I purchased a new monitor today and it is working OK now, except I cannot uninstall coral paint shop pro2 from the control panel from add/remove program, I also have click on repair under the programme on the control panel but that does not work either. I want to install paint shop pro 3 but the computer say not enough space, so I got to get pro 2 off the pc.

    Any help please. Thanks

did you change the font colour? ^^

For some reason, your post was unreadable with the forum skin I have chosen.

Anyway, I can't see how a new monitor has rectified a driver installation error. ;)

You should reinstall PSP 2 properly and then uninstall it again.

How mach space is left on your C drive?

Hi Torqay, my monitor was old and it needed changing, the back of my xps is like the picture you posted and I assum that there is ATI card.

I will go into the start up again and see what it says about ATI and look at the factory settings.

With my old monitor I think what happened was when I started the PC again I must have press something that made the picture into the wrong colours, I could have downloaded the correct colour settings but there was a charge for it. It was better that I purchased a new monitor.
the drive situation is still a problem, but I will deal with that bit later. It is working OK now and I want to use the printer that is attached to the PC for the next week.

It is proving very difficult to remove paint shop pro 2 it will not budge for me. I will ring Corel tomorrow for their help they must have a removal tool that I can use.

Will be back later though for more help but thanks everyone for all help so far.

    Yea noticed that. ;)

As for Corel offering a removal tool, I doubt it very much, they have only acquired the software much later (Paintshop Pro X and higher).

Are you sure it is version 2? This is really ancient, like "1993 ancient", long before the invention of uninstallers.

It is Pro X2 and I want to install Pro X3. I have very little space left on my hard drive, I will clean it up later.

Got rid of Paintshop Pro X2 with great difficulty. Had to go into the registry and delete it from there and it took a long time.

Phone Corel and they said that they do not support that program anymore after I have given them all my personal detail, I was told that I could buy support to get it deleted from my computer, therefore I purchased their program and now that they do not support it anymore I got to purchase their program to get it off my computer, not happy at all about that.

Not sure if there is a free PC cleaner around now does anyone know of one. I have got rid of some temp files, but I am sure there is alot more that could be cleaned up.

Any more help please on getting a good pc cleaner download that is free.

Search google for Ccleaner, a great disk cleaning utility.

Since your computer is a desktop, you might as well disable Hibernation (unless you're uing it), this will immediately free up disk space to the equivalent of the amount of physical memory. Say you have 1024 MB RAM, disabling Hibernation will give you 1 GB more diskspace.

    Clear the checkbox and Apply.

Thanks for that tip Torqay have done it. I will need to look at my programmes that I am not using and delete them as well over the weeks.

I have some problems with my sound just now but cannot solve it as yet will try later to see if I got everything pluged in right.

Thanks again for help to everyone very much appreciated.:)
