Any recommendations? We will be down for the weekend and I was going to make everyone dinner but seeing as I am a mammy myself the hubbie is insisting we all go out somewhere. Will everywhere be jammers? Any decent deals on?

Do you need proof that you're a mammy?

Could I 'borrow' a child, wear a dress and get a free meal? Possibly shave too.

Looks lovely, only issue is that my dad is a conservative eater to say the least! need somewhere doing the traditional meat and veg as well as nicer food for the rest of us!

Really? We went there about a year or so ago to check it out for our wedding, and the lunch consisted of reheated lasagne and green isle chips, my husband had donegal catch fish, it was awful. Maybe they were having an off day though?

That's a pity and totally contrary to many a lovely meal I've had there. We go for all family occasions and have had no problems.

    Hi
    Don't go to Becketts

    Becketts Bar Waterford
    Hi.
I went to Becketts last Sunday week for lunch with my wife and her parents and my two children. The food was nice but when I got the bill I wasn't happy to see that they had charged me for 2 glasses of Miwadi orange at 70c each. The bill was €111. I asked the girl was it a mistake that they had charged me €1.40 for the Miwadi and she said it wasn't. She said That they always charge 70c for this drink. I expressed that I wasn't happy and it was the last time they would see me there.
Am I wrong? Is it normal that Miwadi or such cordial drinks be charged?
In my opinion it's poor poor form from Becketts

Just coming back to update this thread, yes the Atheneum is shocking for food, we went there last year as we were looking at it for our wedding and the food was awful, frozen at worst and pre-prepared at best!
We went to the copper hen but it was not great either, they changed their menu for the day and was very slapdash. I think restaurants need to keep new customers in mind when preparing for big days like mothers day, we found it very mediocre and not cheap for what we got. I didn't bother complaining as they were obviously under pressure. On the upside my daughter loved the new playground in Fenor!
