Ok so I've been riding a whole now.. have decent stamina and skill.. All I've rode up ticknock is the metros, boneshaker and dreamtrack.. I've also rode bits and pieces of other trails but don't know what they were..

Would any of youse be able to give me directions or a map of other trails up there.

    Thanks Bren

Riding on any part of Ticknock, other than metro 1 + 2 is illegal. So I dont think its right for you to ask such a question on a public law abiding website.Join a mtb club thats part of CI and get involved in pushing for more trails to be built and also for Coillite to allow mountain bikes on there land.Scotland,Wales,France and Canada have legal mtb trails that get money into the local economy, time for Ireland to follow suit.

If you look or post on "madmtb.com" or epicmtb.com - two mtb clubs; you should get plenty information on trails

    Bren,

There are no maps showing the other trails, its a case of joining up with a club or people who know the area and following them.

It costs a tenner for your first years CI license and 25 yoyos to join MAD, I am sure the other clubs are similar, for your money you'll get regular spins centered around Ticknock but taking in Djouce, Ballinastoe, Glen of the Downs / Kindlestown and alot more besides. 35 yoyos for a year strikes me as pretty good value all told. Plus cycling in a group is more fun and more likely to bring on your skills.

There's a few trails up in Carrickmines or head down to Ballinastoe if you have access to a car, it's probably a better bet.

Ticknock is really badly eroded off of the Metro trails, which is a real pity. The trail up to the Fairy Castle is like a motor way compared to what it used to be like.

Carrickmines = lead mines? - been there a couple of times.. Nice enough place.

I go ballinastoe every now and again.. Can't go there every weekend though.

Would any of youse be able to even pm me directions to the trailheads? Please

As mentioned, join a club, get to know the people in the clubs and where they go on spins...

Do any clubs have many riders aged around 15?

For one, Epic run spins for U/Age and Juniors, I am sure MAD and IMBRC do too...check there forums for dates and times...

In general your better off not venturing off the Coillte trails if your not an experienced biker you could easily get yourself into trouble if you came off the bike...
