    Hey Guys & Gals,

I've been thinking about this for a while. The entire 'social smoker' thing that seems to happen with people where they only 'smoke when they are out' - but then don't brand themsleves as smokers.

Does anyone else find this really annoying?

Especially when you are out, and since they are only 'social smokers' they don't buy their own box of cigs - they just tap off everyone of their friends in the smoking area.

As a smoker I find this very very irritating, what about ye?

I find that 'social smokers' often do buy their own fags and put a great deal of effort into letting on they don't smoke at home when actually they do

Yes it is quiet irritating, I am a social smoker I love nothing more than having a smoke and a chat and if I gave up I know I would miss that more than anything else

Those people who only smoke when out are not social smokers they are sponges and leeches and should feck off and buy their own. Never give in cause they'll keep coming back!

I would never encourage people who don't buy cigarettes to start buying cigarettes, although most smokers only seem all too eager to drag other's down to their level.

Being a smoker suggests that you have an addiction. If you take a drink the odd time, you're a drinker; but people don't presume that you're an alcoholic.

Same difference imo. There is such a thing as social smokers.. They should still buy their own though :pac:

If you're a social smoker that implies that your halfway to quitting. Now I know that's wrong but I choose to see it that way ;)

I find moochers in general irritating , and I wouldnt deny any friend a couple now an again but if there at it all the time thats taking the piss , plus its a slippery slope from social smoking to becoming a fully fledged smokeahontas .

If I called myself a social drinker I wouldn't be able to tap each of my friends for a pint, social smokers are just scrounging bastards.

if have got a fag in hand and are breathing in the smoke-its smoking and no amount of word BS will get around it,its like how those of us who dont smoke are classed as second hand smokers if we end up breathing in the smoke of smokers, very few people can escape the wrath of the determined smokers poison.:pac:

You can buy one pint, you can't buy one cigarette, which I'm sure is what is fueling the majority of the issue with "social smokers".

Very true, but whenever I ever see these 'social smokers' I'll always tell them to quit while they can. As they don't know how hard it actually is later on.

I smoke, but tend to smoke more with a few drinks or out in a pub or at a football match.

Thats always the terror! I'm the same! But I've now cut back to be able to make a box last an entire night, compared to when I used to go through almost 2! Glories of smoking John Player Red 100's, they taste manky and last forever!
