I've caught the infectious disease of cycling, I got a cannonade quick hybrid last year and feel now that I want to upgrade to a proper road bike! Going to get it on the bike to work scheme plus a little extra so have about 1300 to invest. I have been looking around and have a short (longish) list so which one is the question.
    Giant defy2
    Felt 75
    Specialized allez elite
    Corratec dolomitic 105
    Trek 1.5
I know it's a long list but so many options I can't make my mind up,help?
    Hope links work.

All good bikes I'm sure, but the Felt would be my pick from that list, based on components and finish. But it's also has the most racey geometry, with a shorter head tube length than the others for each frame size. So good for racing but might not be the most comfortable for long spins if thats what you had in mind. The other bikes on the list would have a similar riding position to your cannondale quick.

Thanks for the info, long spins at first with some of the an post series as a goal. Which is more important long term frame and geometry or components?

Frame/geometry (for comfort and fit) would be more important to get right, you can always upgrade components later. The components on all the bikes on your list (Tiagra / 105) are fine anyway.

I'm not trying to put you off the Felt btw, nice bike, just to be aware it will probably feel a lot different to your hybrid, so try them all if you can and see how they feel.

In your price range, you could also consider a cube peloton, similar spec to the Felt, but a more relaxed geometry.

Thanks for the replies, I'll and the cube to my list. Anyone know much about the corratec, I don't hear them mentioned on here much.

I'm in a similar situation with a similar budget. The Felt Z85 has a less racey geometry than the F75, apart from that I think it's similar in every way. I tried one out last night and it feels like a good fit for me. Might be worth considering?

Sorry I'm not really helping to shorten your list though (mine is also getting longer instead of shorter)!

How about the Stevens Stelvio, comes in on budget and has full 105.. There is the San Remo model which is down around the 1000 mark.

Thanks guys and the list grows, like the look of the canyon. Are these only available online or are there suppliers in Dublin.
The decision on getting any easier anyway.
