Advice on chipping

    Hi all,

The OH has had a 2.2 turbo Hyundai Santa Fe for the past 2 years. She got the 2012 facelift version last week which is a 2.0 turbo. Even though it is only a drop of 0.2 it is a massive difference when driving, it feels like she is towing a bus.

The guy that fitted some add ons to her car suggested chipping it.

I want to find out will this make any real difference to the drive?
Will this effect her insurance? I trust if she doesnt tell them and has a crash she will be screwed.

Any idea on the cost for this?

    Cheers

I think you'd be mad to chip a 2012 engine. Surely that would void any warranty? Did you not drive it beforehand to see what the performance is like?

youd be better re-mapping than chipping.

turn off that eco button in the middle of the center console

She has had 5 of them in a row, she needs that size for a disabled family member

if you look below the gearstick to the left theres a button that says 'eco mode' with a light on it , push that to turn it off.

Some chipping/remapping if discovered by the dealers can mess up your warranty. Some remappers claim that their software updates can't be discovered but can be overwritten by the dealers doing a software update. Now I haven't had it done others have maybe if they read this they can give more better advice.

    Can the Hyundai be remapped?
IIRC you need to fit a piggy back ECU similar to the Tuning Box or similar?
