    Brake light switch is gone.

The symbol you have flashing is the glow plug light you should be well familiar with this driving a diesel engined van,it is indeed a coil symbol.

Not sure about a 2007 but usually in a VW the yellow coil light can indicate one of many faults stored in the Diesel Control Unit. Best to have a diagnostic check done to determine exactly where the fault lies.

The coil or glow plug light on older diesels comes on when you turn on the ignition, you have to wait untill it goes out before you start a diesel engine. This has been the case for as long as diesels have been widely available to the public.

In the case of you modern VW, as said above, the brake light switch often causes it to come on. Are your brake lights on when you drive along?

Well it comes on everytimes you turn the ignition on in your van and you have to wait till it goes off before turning it over,so you might have noticed it :D

Get someone to stand behind the van and check if the brake lights are working properly.
