    Hi all,

    Looking to purchase some Vanguard style index trackers, is it possible to purchase one in Euro currency? Via a broker in Europe.
    I'm trying to avoid the currency fluctuations, and though it would be better to buy index tracker in my home currency, the Euro. Is there an advantage to purchase the Euro version over Dollar index tracker or do the index tracker do the conversion for you and therefore you still susceptible to currency fluctuations?

    Example Index fund;
    VTWSX - Vanguard Total World Stock Index Inv

    Thanks in advance,
    pan

    Deutshce Bank x trackers are denominated in Euro may be worth checking out.
    I believe they're EUR denominated for the likes of S&P 500 and FTSE 100 on the Xetra exchange.

    Thanks for the link, but these are mostly ETF's, and I prefer to invest in simple index funds that track a certain index.

    This may be worth a look.

    I'm looking at something similar myself for using a 'dollar-cost-averaging' passive investment approach every month.

    Foxyboxer, I'm in a similiar situation i.e. looking for a passive investment. But I'm not limiting myself to a "dollar cost avg" approach, although I believe it's a good approach.

    I've looked over the Irish Life index funds and it seems they all have annual management charges of > 0.75%, that's not even a TER (Total Expense Ratio) so their could be some extra charges. Some Vanguard index fund have a TER as low as 0.3%. See Irish Life booklet attached for more details.

    I suspect the Market is too small in Ireland for really competitive index funds:(
    I'm still learning and researching this area, so will you posted.

    ETF's could still be an option for you see this blog for a good write-up on Index funds vs ETF's http://monevator.com/2010/11/16/etfs-vs-index-funds-differences/
    It's an England orientated blog, but the concepts should hold.
