UPC don't use WEP, they use WPA(2), by default.
The DS will only connect to a WEP secured network.

You'll need to change your router settings.

Your router will normally have a Web-GUI that you can access by typing the IP address into the web browser address line of an attached PC. If you're not sure what the IP of your router is :
    1. go to Start \ Run and type "cmd" (assuming it's a windows system) - hit return for a Dos box
    2. In the dos box type "ipconfig" <enter>
This will show you the configured network interfaces. If you connect to the router by Wireless, look for the details of the Wireless LAN adapter, otherwise look for the Ethernet / Local Area Connection. In either case your Default Gateway is probably your router IP address
    3. Type the router IP address into the address bar of your web browser
    4. Try to remember what your username and password are.
The default usernames and passwords for Eircom routers are a fairly open secret, no idea if the same is true for UPC.

Where you go from the front end is anyones guess, presumably there's a configuration menu that allows you to look at the Wireless setup security settings and change the wireless security type and key. Bear in mind that you'll need to change all the devices that use wireless to connect to the internet to use the new encryption type and key, so plan for an outtage and inform anyone else who uses the internet in your gaff that you're about to ruin their night. And above all, MAKE A NOTE OF THE CURRENT SETTINGS. Never monkey with your network setup unless you know how to undo the damage you're about to inflict!

    It should be fairly easy.
You'll just need to find your wireless settings in the router and search for anything that says WEP, WPA or security, and it should be pretty straight forward to see what you need to change.

    UPC modems are usually http://192.168.0.1

I'm on the thompson router so I could probably help you out in more detail if you get stuck and have that model, otherwise there's a thread about the UPC cisco modem in the broadband forum.

I have the EPC 2425 router in case you need help with that. I do forget the default username and password though, so I hope you can remember.
