UK Car Sites & Buying a Car in the UK

Been looking at different car prices for a while and I'm finding that, even with paying the exchange rate and VRT, that Northern Ireland prices are cheaper than Irish ones.

I've heard a number of people mention however that UK prices are even cheaper. Are there any sites people would recommend for the UK market?

Of course, I would only buy from a dealer and not a private sale. I also know a few assessors over there that could look at the car for me.

First off, are you comparing asking prices or actual best prices?

Remember that prices here tend to be a lot more open to negotiation than those in the UK. This can often account for most, all, or even more than all of the difference between UK and Irish prices. You really need to hammer out best prices on both sides of the water and then compare.

One other thing - if you are buying in the UK then buy privately - there's no point in paying extra for a warranty you'll never be able to take advantage of. Do verify (by ringing every garage who stamped the book) the service history of any car, though, and run a full HPI check (including V5 serial # and issue date) before handing over any money.

    Try cargiant.co.uk

Used them a few times before I moved over here. Never had any problems. Can't get much off the asking price even if you are great at haggling.

MASSIVE selection of cars on site. Biggest used car dealers I've seen in the UK. Based in West London. Should have anything and everything you can think off in a second hand Market.
