What car to go for with new road tax hikes coming?

Hi...I want to change my car as I pay high road tax each year and was thinking of getting an 08 with low CO2 emissions maybe a 2008 mondeo.
But now I'm thinking again, low emission 08 cars are are over priced due to their low road tax and the gov are moving the goal posts next year.

What to people think this new road tax will be based on and what would be the right mid size car to go for to keep road tax low in the coming years?

I think youre better off waiting until the changes are announced rather than second guessing them and potentially getting caught out.

    I agree...

But if you are in a hurry, you should be safe enough (financially, not feeling wise, while you sit in that thing) by byuing one of these:
