Hi, I need to upgrade to OS 10.6 to use macspeech dictate. Is this difficult to do without wiping my hard-drive etc or alternatively has anyone here use that or another voice recognition program with the 10.5

    Thanks

Buy the OS X v10.6 Snow Leopard upgrade from the Apple Store and apply it, then down load and apply all the upgrades to OS X v10.6.8 using Software Update ...

Thanks for the quick reply....anywhere in Dublin to get this or is it just online?

Any worries about wiping data if I ugrade to the new OS or is it a case of just inserting the disc and restarting?

    Thanks again

Any of the Apple resellers should still have stocks, if not online might be the only solution for you. Give the resellers a ring, I think it's about €30/35 retail.

BTW you're still a long way behind 10.7.3 is a mature release - 10.8 is due out soon.

There was a recent thread that listed all the Dublin resellers in one post, but I can't find it right now, sorry

BTW, anyone have any experience using macscribe or any other voice recognition program?

Sorry, one more question...for a related product I need 10.7. Will it just be a case of buying 10.6 and 10.7 and installing one after the other.

    Thanks

Sorry forget which model, will check later. Not the pro, just a normal macbook I think. Got it in 2009

If you got it in 2009 then Lion should work all right on it

Yes with the same proviso as above - you need a minimum of Core 2 Duo processor for 10.7. Make sure the application you want 10.6 for won't break if you upgrade the OS to 10.7 - check the documentation, web-site and maybe email the developer. When you get in just to be safe do "About This Mac" under the Apple Menu and check what it says beside "Processor".

The model identifier is 4,1...macbook. Intel 2. So should work?
