    Hi All,

Not strictly mobiles but not broadband either so didn't know what forum would be best.

I have an O2 internet usb stick that got a knock and bent. Anyway I'm not due for upgrade an O2 said it's €40 for a new PAYG one but I saw Meteor have a refurbished one for €10. Does anyone know if I can put an O2 SIM (billpay) into a Meteor stick or are they locked like phones? Unsurprisingly as it's an O2 SIM Meteor aren't too informative ;)

    Thanks,
    Kaz

You can unlock most dongels to work with any network using DC unlocker, http://www.dc-unlocker.com/ That will set you back about €15 + the €10 for the meteor stick and if i'm not mistaken to get the meteor stick for €10 you need to buy €20 top up credit brining the total cost to €45, that's €5 more than if you just bought the €40 stick from o2.

ask a few mates one of them must have one stuck in a drawer somewhere, just unlock one with the link I gave you, doesn't matter what network it's on.

I tried this with an O2 branded Huawei E1752 a while ago and it worked for me. If you're going to unlock with this method, install the DC-unlocker software anyways. It's handy to monitor unlock attempts left and SIM unlock status.

The usual warnings apply if you're going to unlock by this method though.
