    1. What is your budget?
    [€150-250]

    2. What will be the main purpose of the computer? Internet, Microsoft office, basic home everyday usage

    3. Do you need a copy of Windows? [No]

    4. Can you use any parts from an old computer? Yes, have a hard drive, psu, disk drive & the old case will do

    5. Do you need a monitor? [No]

5b. If no, what resolution is your current monitor and do you plan to upgrade in the near future? [1440/900, no]

    6. Do you need any of these peripherals? Wireless card,an extra cooling fan to attach to the case & a card reader would be nice too.

    7. Are you willing to try overclocking? [No, not for this build]

    8. How can you pay? [Credit Card/Laser]

    9. When are you purchasing? [Within the next 2 weeks]

    10. If you need help building it, where are you based? [Oldcastle, Meath]

P.S:I basically just need a mobo, ram, cpu i may buy a 64gb ssd but please don't include this. The psu i have is an old 300watt delta psu.. Its 5.5 years old,but still going fine, would i still be better off buying a new one ? Also, will a new type motherboard still fit inside an old fujitsu siemens case?
    Cheers lads

OEM case, dunno if you can fit a standard ATX mobo.

Total build cost: €259.01 (inc delivery Free!)
    Intel Celeron G530 2.4GHz LGA1155 2MB €43.36
    ASRock S1155 Intel H61 DDR3 mATX €42.74
    Kingston 4GB (1 x 4GB) DDR3 1333MHz DIMM 240-pin CL9 €20.88
    Crucial 64GB m4 SATA 6Gb/s 2.5" Solid State Drive €89.37
    Fractal Design Core 1000 Mid-Tower Case €36.01
Zyxel G-302 v3 Wireless PCI Card Adapter €19.64
    Dynamode Card Reader €7.01

SSD is included in this. Sub out the case if you don't need it, system total draw will be minimal so you're fine with the 300 watt, by the way have you got an OS? You could stick on Ubuntu or another distro as Win7 will take a chunk out of the budget.

    thanks for that.
Would you know if that motherboard will fit into such an old fujitsu siemens case? think ill buy that one anyway just in case.
i already have an upgrade version from software4students. i'm guessing i could bump the processor up to an i3, but would it be overkill? P.S. i don't think that motherboard had an ide slot does it?

Chances are it probably won't fit in the case, so you're probably better off moving to the3 fractal. The i3 isn't really overkill but there would be better options to spend 70 euro on. And for the motherboard you could just get a SATA-IDE adapter.

Yeah of course, if its just the one program you should consider dual booting with another OS, XP at this stage is like a dinosaur.

If you're going for a full new machine then you could keep the old one in place for whatever application it is that needs xp.

no i can't really make a whole new machine would be too awkward switching it as there is only one monitor etc.. yeah its a stone age accounts package called ability plus that my mother still uses:rolleyes: Yes i wouldn't be using xp for my main os, either dual boot it with windows 7 on the ssd & xp in the hdd. or maybe a virtual machine either.
