WIT is much closer to me, I will have to move out to get to DIT and I picked DIT above WIT. My question is is there a big difference between these two if they are both ITs and DIT requires more points?

DIT is in Dublin, where everyone wants to be. :D

Even you chose it over WIT, despite WIT being closer to you.

The points have nothing to do with how good the course or college is, it's all about how many people want to go there. More people living in Dublin, more people wanting to go there and easier transport links from anywhere in the country mean DIT is more popular, so it needs more points.
